Dr. Detective: The Synonyms Game Thesis Design
نویسنده
چکیده
It is estimated that 20% of medical diagnoses is incorrect [7, 9]. This is caused by limited human cognitive abilities. We are unable to know everything about every human on earth, and therefore cannot reason over this data. Cognitive systems such as IBM Watson can expand these cognitive abilities. These systems are able to reason over data, and interpret more effective than humans can. They are able to process and answer questions in natural language by finding evidence for the correct answer. However, it is difficult for these systems to interpret natural language because they need to be told what is right and what is wrong. Current methods for automating the extraction of this data have shown to be incomplete [14]. Crowdsourcing can solve this by gathering a complete ground truth [12]. In order to capture positive and negative synonym relations in medical texts, we propose a crowdsourcing experiment using the Crowd-Watson framework in order to create efficient templates for these annotation tasks.

"Dr. Detective": combining gamification techniques and crowdsourcing to create a gold standard in medical text
This paper proposes a design for a gamified crowdsourcing workflow to extract annotation from medical text. Developed in the context of a general crowdsourcing platform, Dr. Detective is a game with a purpose that engages medical experts into solving annotation tasks on medical case reports, tailored to capture disagreement between annotators. It incorporates incentives such as learning feature...
متن کاملThe Game's Afoot: Designing Sherlock Holmes
A videogame based on the Sherlock Holmes’ stories by Arthur Conan Doyle is an interesting design challenge, which commercial games have tackled only half-heartedly. This paper discusses this challenge by examining the game design strategies across preexisting games, then proposes a new set of strategies that would help players become the dweller of 221B Baker Street. The design critique of the ...
متن کاملModelling Bounded Rationality in the Centipede Game M.Phil. Economics: Thesis
This paper examines the finite Centipede game. The backward induction solution of this game, in which the play is stopped in the first round, is counter-intuitive. By relaxing the strong assumptions of traditional game theory about the rationality and knowledge of the players; and allowing them to behave in a boundedly rational way, new equilibria are introduced. The areas of bounded rationalit...
متن کاملMultiplayer Game Frameworks for Crowd-Aware Co-design of Environments
This thesis proposes two different frameworks in the field of Games in Research. Contribution 1 Architectural design decisions stand to benefit by accounting for the presence and activities of human crowds that inhabit these spaces. Computational methods for simulating synthetic crowds provide a cost effective means of exploring and analyzing the design search space. However, crowd-aware archit...
متن کاملA Game Architecture for Emergent Story-Puzzles in a Persistent World
This paper presents the design of an architecture for narrative games with story-puzzles like classic graphic adventures. The system is able to create new short stories in each session, combining a basic set of narrative elements in an emergent way but maintaining coherency with the storyline of previous sessions. As a test-bed of this proposal we use a simple detective game inspired on the fam...
